Dirt Wayz Course
This two-day event is developed for new adventure / dual-sport motorcycle riders with little or no experience riding off-pavement. Participants will be limited to 10 riders, delivering the most personalized instruction. The first day consists of the ADV basics from Correct body positioning & balance, Throttle and clutch control, Ascending/descending hills safely and confidently, riding over/around obstacles, and slow speed
maneuvering & control.
Day 2 will be growing on what we learned on day 1, plus adding in Hill fail training, Rear brake control at speed, learning to tow a friend out of a situation, and more. If there is time remaining we try and fit in a led ride bu
t time does not allow for this.
Experienced pavement riders will find this course very enlightening as they will learn that the skills needed for riding properly off-pavement can significantly differ from riding high-traction pavement. The Dirt Wayz training course provides the unique opportunity to apply what you have learned in the field on a guided day ride and training experience which few other training companies provide. Our goal for this course is to prepare students to develop the skills and confidence to enjoy the benefits and freedom to begin their own excursions into the wilderness.
This course is designed under our philosophy to leverage your new skills and is delivered in a “No Judgment Zone” environment. Dirt Wayz riders have fun learning without peer pressure or the need to impress anyone. We help riders master new skills, take on new challenges and expand their comfort zone when ready. But most importantly, riders are never forced to try something they might be uncomfortable doing.
Our goal is for Dirt Wayz riders to be trained to ride safely to reduce risks, ride effectively to enable riders to apply appropriate skills to unique challenges and ride efficiently to preserve energy. We are here to help provide a foundation for you for an exciting future in adventure motorcycle travels to remote and exotic locations.
Recommendations:
Gear
Gear is very important when exploring off-road, we always want to make sure you are educated on what works best for you.
• Adventure boots, tall is recommended but not required
• Knee Pads
• Adventure Jacket
• Full finger gloves
• DOT approved helmet
Bike Setup
We recommend Knobby tires of some sort as they progressively break away vs. a smooth street tire will break free immediately in certain instances.
Rooms
We recommend The Lodge at Tellico, we stay here as Bryan the owner has geared his cabins towards the adventure seeker. He has a great garage, the beds are very comfortable, the showers are great and most rooms all have a jacuzzi to relax in the evening. He provides us with breakfast, and a warm meal to start the day. This is not included in the fee for the class and we are only recommending this to make it easier for you.
You can also get with Micky Fouts at T.O.A.D for a campsite with showers included.

Took a weekend to do build my skills with Stella. I started the weekend terrified and ended feeling confident in myself and that I can help fellow riders. Thanks @whitelightningharley for the fun weekend!

Highly recommend the Dirt Wayz ADV Rider Courses. We just completed the Level 1&2 and it was absolutely great! Top shelf instruction by Zeke, Aaron and Rob that will put you through your paces! It is intense and introduces the rider to so many of the scenarios that you you find yourself in on a weekend ride. Very thorough and challenging!

The training team, of Zeke, Aaron and Rob were TOP SHELF and I applaud them for all they did during our training. As a rider trainer myself, I thoroughly appreciate their high standards. And yes, that influence does not correlate in any way to coaching an adv course with the exception of the focus on safety. And yes, they kept the point of safety at the forefront while conducting our class. As an example, they consistently modified the range locations to give the students the best opportunity for success and not necessarily to master a particular skill but show enough confidence to move to next exercise.
I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect and clearly admit, this class was clearly the most challenging I have ever taken but at the same time most rewarding. And it was all because how the training team handled each coaching opportunity.
I have already recommended to the Redstone HD GM and two mangers of the managers my recommendation for their team to share this training opportunity with anyone desiring to purchase a Pan America as well any available training opportunities.

Hi guys,
This is Pato, I’m 44 and I’m Argentinian. I used to ride street bikes, but when I came to the US, I knew I wanted something different, I wanted to get in the dirt, and I wanted to get muddy…
That’s why I got an entry level dual sport bike, then I met Shawn, from White lightning, who encouraged me to join the ADV training classes that they provide, and I immediately signed up.
The training was a 2-day training that took place in beautiful Tellico plains, I was surprised about the different riders attending the training, I remember a lady coming from Colorado, Deb, and several others from different places. I was surprised by people with different skill levels, some with no experience at all just like me and others that have been riding off road for many years, like Tracy.
The trainers were from DART, Zeke and Tobin, had years of experience and a lot to share…
During the training we learned a lot, we started doing some stretches that didn’t make sense at that moment, but I was very thankful that night that we did that.
Then we continued learning different techniques like Body position and counterbalance, Clutch and gas control, Ascending & descending hills, Towing others. This training improved my skills and now I’m able to join Shawn and the crew on monthly DIRT rides enjoying the beautiful TN landscapes…
Hope to see you on the trails, Chau! - Pato K

"The off-road training (Dirt Wayz) provided me with skills to build upon, and gave me a path to become a better rider. I had been searching for ADV training in Middle TN, and found it is just not offered in this area. White Lightning H-D is the only dealership that I know of that is involved with ADV training, of any kind.
The techniques for effective and safe maneuvering of a bike in the dirt are not simply common sense, but principles that are most valuable when learned and practiced correctly. Receiving instruction, and needed correction, from a competent instructor opened up a new world for me. With proper skills, a healthy confidence will replace hesitation during rides, and this will lead to your machine getting out of the garage more. A bike and the rider are both happier when the tachometer is above zero!" - Robin B

"Was priviledged to take Off-road course, awesome, class was just what I was looking for after purchase of 2022 PAS. Skills learned are invaluable to elevate riding awareness & confidence, I look forward to gaining more experience & knowledge of the capabilities of my HD PanAmerica. The knowledge and level of commitment of the staff to the PanAmerica exceeds any I have found in metro ATL." - Ray B
